 Health and Hygiene
Dr. A. F. Pinto has always been conscious of his duties as a
responsible urban citizen and has taken a number of initiatives
to spread awareness about cleanliness, health and hygiene and
improve the quality of urban life. Some of these initiatives
are:
- He began the programme with the permission of the General
Managers of Western and Central Railways to allow school and
college students to clean up the station premises by sweeping
away the rubbish.
.
- He appealed the 200 odd colleges in the city to come
forward to build public toilettes on the four highways. He
proposed to transfer these toilettes to bodies like Sulabh for
management. A meeting was called for working out this scheme
.
- He conducted 3 training programmes under which counselors
were sent to various institutions to enlighten and guide
students about the dangers of contacting AIDS disease and drug
addiction.
